He is R.I.S.E.N!

On behalf of the National Sisterhood, Happy Easter, my beautiful sisters!

For those who celebrate Easter today or later (I see you, my Eastern Orthodox sisters), I wanted to share some thoughts of our wonderful Savior with you, to remind you of His goodness and grace as we celebrate His resurrection and the new life He brings!

Jesus Christ is:

R - reconciliation. Jesus has made it possible for all of those who call upon Him in earnest to be restored to God. (Romans 10:13; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19; 1 Peter 3:18)

I - immanent. God is both a participant in all of His creation as well as distinct from it. "Immanuel" is this immanent God with us, and through Jesus we have the Word made flesh for His ultimate glory and for our salvation! (Ephesians 4:6; Psalm 139:2; John 1:14)

S - sacrifice. Never take for granted His own knowledge of His self-sacrifical love for you and me. If we weren't worth saving, He wouldn't have surrendered to walk the darkest path to a humiliating, painful death. (Philippians 2:8; Romans 5:8; Titus 2:14)

E - eternal. Jesus was, is, and will be. Thus, His perfect character also infinitely so and capable of nullifying yours and my sin no matter how grievous. (Hebrews 13:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 8:38-39)

N - noble. "Crown Him with many crowns!" Jesus is truly the King of Kings. He is not only the most worthy in authority and status, but also the most deserving in humble heart and compassion: the epitome of the ideal in nobility of grace and dignity unto others. (1 Timothy 6:15; Matthew 20:28; Hebrews 12:2)

As you reflect today on Christ's resurrection and your own salvation, I pray that you take the time to work out what it all means, not because our faith requires a perfect theological understanding, but because it enhances and deepens the awareness of the surpassing love of God for you and me! May He bless you today and always as you rejoice in the story that never grows old because...

He is RISEN! He is RISEN indeed!

In Christ Alone,
