Strength for the Season of Change
Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
A Season of Shifting
Transition is often uncomfortable—not because we’re doing something wrong, but because we’re growing. As alumnae who once wore letters on our backs and now carry the mission forward through leadership and legacy, we live in the space between what was and what’s next. Whether we’re beginning a new board year, welcoming new voices into the conversation, or carrying out the dreams of the women who came before us, we are navigating holy ground.
Change requires courage. It takes faith to step out when the future is not fully formed and strength to keep going when the path feels uncertain. But this truth remains: God is not overwhelmed by our unknowns.
God’s Strength, Not Ours
In Isaiah 41:10, God doesn’t suggest that we might get help. He promises it. He tells us not to fear, not to be dismayed—not because the road will always be easy, but because He is with us. In our board meetings, in our inboxes, in the quiet moments when we wonder if our service is making a difference—He is there.
God doesn’t call us to be strong all the time. He calls us to lean on His strength. The world tells us to “dig deep” and “push through,” but Jesus tells us to abide in Him (John 15:4). Our role is not to power through transition but to be rooted in the One who never changes.
When Legacy Meets Leadership
As alumnae leaders, we sit at a powerful intersection of past, present, and future. We remember the joy of sisterhood on campus. We carry the stories of our founding, and we steward a mission that stretches beyond what we can see. That’s not a small thing. It’s sacred.
But sacred doesn’t mean simple. Leadership, especially in seasons of transition, can feel heavy. Maybe you’ve felt discouraged when plans fall through or volunteers are few. Maybe you've questioned your role or wondered if you're still the right person for the job. If so, know this: God equips those He calls. And if He’s placed you here, in this moment, He has already prepared what you need.
Encouragement for the Journey
Sister, your leadership matters more than you know. Your prayers, your late-night emails, your willingness to show up—it all matters. Foundations aren’t built in spotlight moments but in small, faithful steps. And while transitions can make us feel like we’re building while walking, they’re also proof that we’re moving forward.
You don’t have to carry everything alone. That’s the beauty of our shared leadership and our shared faith. Let this be a season where we lean into one another as much as we lean into Him.
Reflection Questions:
Where do you feel tension or uncertainty in your leadership right now? What would it look like to give that over to God?
In what ways has God shown up for you in previous seasons of transition? Who is someone in your life (or on your board) you can encourage during this season of change?
Prayer:
Lord, You are constant when everything else shifts. As we walk through this new season of leadership and transition, help us remember that You are already ahead of us. Give us Your strength—not just to endure, but to lead with boldness, grace, and love. Help us honor the legacy we’ve inherited and build a future that glorifies You. Let our sisterhood reflect Your faithfulness, and may our work never be about our own recognition, but about Your kingdom. Thank You for upholding us, for equipping us, and for walking with us through it all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
