"SBG" gives the 411!
We asked Sisters by Grace Foundation, our sister charitable organization, to share a few announcements with you all as a guest blogpost this month! Read up and share with friends and family to gain support for the cause!
The Sisters By Grace Foundation was established in 2013 to cultivate the spiritual, academic, professional, and social growth of mature Christian women, specifically the sisters of Sigma Alpha Omega®. In other words, we are an organization for sisters, by sisters! We have hosted fundraisers, scholarship opportunities, and photo contests as activities that pursue our vision of fostering the personal growth of the sisters of SAO.

Over
the past year, we have organized several fundraising efforts,
including a Yankee Candle Fundraiser last fall, the Penny Uprising
that took place at the 2014 Sigma Alpha Omega® Convention, and most
recently, a Founding Donor Drive letter campaign. Together, these
fundraisers have raised over $500 thus far for the Sisters By Grace
Foundation! This money has allowed us to offer scholarship
opportunities, fun prizes for contests, an ice cream social at
Convention, and will continue to help us pour into our SAO sisters!

In
2014, we have awarded over twenty-five scholarships, including
Semester Dues Scholarships and Non-Delegate Scholarships to the 2014
National Convention. This Fall, the Sisters By Grace Foundation
awarded five Fall Dues Scholarships to Barbara VanKempen (Alpha Sigma
Chapter at Kennesaw State University), Maggie Harney (Mu Chapter at
The University of Georgia), Rebecca Brady (Beta Chapter at
Appalachian State University), Jozelyn Escobedo and Victoria Castillo
(Psi Chapter at University of New Mexico). Each scholarship covered
$100 of the sister’s chapter dues, which are used to pay for all of
the exciting events that chapters conduct, such as bible studies,
retreats, socials, recruitment, formals and much more.
Debbie is TEALED OUT for OCA! |
The
Sisters By Grace Foundation also joined the philanthropic efforts of
Sigma Alpha Omega® by launching a Facebook Photo contest to align
with the Sigma Alpha Omega® National Theme #TealMeAboutItSAO. Participants were asked to submit via email photos of their
“Most Extreme Teal Outfits”, which were voted on by our Facebook
fans. The winner will receive a “Teal” basket, filled with a SBG
Board Member’s favorite teal items. Congratulations to Debbie
Hunter (shown right, Beta Chapter at Appalachian State University),
our Extreme Teal Outfit Photo Contest winner!
With
your support, we can continue to offer more opportunities like these
